Super Bowl 37Superbowl XXXVII: Operation Infinite Ads
by Flak Staff
Graphics by David Barsam

The hype surrounding the hype surrounding Super Bowl ads has gotten to the point where it has begun to eclipse the hype surrounding the hype surrounding the Super Bowl itself. You can't even turn on your local TV news without seeing "reports" on the ads that consist of the ads themselves, aired in full with nothing but the station's logo to remind you that what you're viewing is "news."

The postmodern cop-out is to not even talk about the ads. When your local Lutheran pastor is structuring his sermon around which ads Jesus might have enjoyed, it's probably time to strike out and explore fresh territory.

Flak is having none of that. Instead, we're going to plunge in headfirst by offering you reviews of the ads and in-depth analysis of the commercials' cultural significance. It's all updated in real time, so keep checking back throughout the game! Ignore the enormous men bouncing off each other on the grass!

But most importantly, Flak will also explore whether any given ad can succeed where President Bush's economic team has failed and rescue our nation's failing economy.

Top that, Paul O'Neill!
